Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions the Board is asked most often.
How can an employer verify a GBTPE certificate?
Every certificate the Board issues carries a unique certificate number and a QR code. Scanning the QR code, or entering the verification token printed beside it, opens the Board's verification page and confirms whether the document is genuine, and whether it is still valid. Verification is free. A formal written verification letter can also be requested for a fee of Rs. 1,000, or Rs. 2,000 for urgent processing.
How does a training institute get affiliated with GBTPE?
Institutes apply for affiliation in one of two categories — CBT&A institutes and non-CBT&A institutes. Applications are assessed against the Board's criteria, which include staffing, equipment, workshop capacity and the courses being requested. Contact the Board using the form on this page to begin the process.
Who inspects an institute, and what do they check?
GBTPE does not register its own assessors — assessors are registered nationally. When an institute applies for affiliation, the Board assigns an inspection team of two: a nationally registered assessor for the relevant trade, and a Board member. They visit the premises and verify everything submitted in the online application — location, ownership, classrooms, workshops, staff, NTN and SECP or other registration documents. The team reports to the Board, and affiliation is granted only once that report is accepted.
How are students assessed and certified?
Students enrol at a GBTPE-affiliated institute and are registered with the Board, receiving a unique registration number. Affiliated institutes conduct monthly formative assessments to track progress, and the Board conducts the final competency-based summative assessment. Certificates are issued on successful completion of all assessment requirements.
I have lost my certificate, or it has an error. What can I do?
A duplicate certificate costs Rs. 3,000, or Rs. 6,000 for urgent processing. A correction to an existing certificate costs Rs. 2,000, or Rs. 4,000 urgent. Both require supporting documents. Contact the Board with your registration number and certificate number to begin a request.
When can students enrol?
Intake depends on the programme. G-II and G-III programmes admit once a year in September. CBT&A programmes admit twice a year, in April and July. Short courses admit between two and four times a year depending on their duration, and Recognition of Prior Learning assessments are scheduled throughout the year. Enrolment is handled by the affiliated institute, so confirm dates with the institute you intend to join. Everything the Board examines is listed on the Courses page.
How do I report a fake certificate or make a complaint?
Report it to the Board directly, using the enquiry form on this page, the helpline, or the Board's email address. Include the certificate number and, if possible, a photograph or scan of the document. The Board investigates every report of misuse of its certificates.
Can I visit the Board's office?
Yes. The head office is at Barkat Plaza, opposite Wateem General Hospital, Main GT Road near T-Chowk, Islamabad. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. For anything that can be handled remotely, calling the helpline or using the form on this page is usually faster.
